Fewpips runs two separate loss limits. Confusing them, or assuming a daily limit exists where it does not, is a common way to misjudge risk. Here is each one with the dollar figures worked out.
Per-Trade Cap: 2% of Starting Balance (All Accounts)
No single trade idea may lose more than 2% of your starting balance. This applies to every account type. A trade idea is all entries on the same symbol and direction opened within a 10-minute window, assessed as one combined result, so you cannot split one bet to dodge the cap. The dollar figure per account size:
| Account size | 2% per-trade cap |
|---|---|
| $3,000 | $60 |
| $5,000 | $100 |
| $10,000 | $200 |
| $25,000 | $500 |
| $50,000 | $1,000 |
| $100,000 | $2,000 |
| $200,000 | $4,000 |
Daily Loss Limit (Depends on Product)
The daily loss limit is where products differ the most. Note especially that Instant accounts do not have one:
| Account | Daily loss limit |
|---|---|
| Instant (CFD & Future Based CFD) | None |
| CFD 1-Step | 4% ($4,000 on a $100K account) |
| CFD 2-Step | 4% ($4,000 on a $100K account) |
| CFD 3-Step | 5% ($5,000 on a $100K account) |
| Future Based CFD 1-Step | 4% |
How the Daily Loss Is Measured
The daily loss is calculated as your start-of-day equity minus the lowest floating equity of the day. It covers both open and closed trades, so an unrealized drawdown intraday counts, not just closed losses.
Because Instant accounts have no daily loss limit, your main guardrails there are the 2% per-trade cap and the overall maximum loss limit and trailing floor. Mandatory stop-loss and take-profit keep each trade inside the 2% cap.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Fewpips Instant accounts have a daily loss limit?
No. Instant accounts, both CFD and Future Based CFD, have no daily loss limit. Your guardrails on Instant are the 2% per-trade cap and the overall maximum loss limit.
How is the daily loss limit calculated?
As your start-of-day equity minus the lowest floating equity of the day, covering both open and closed trades. If you bank profit earlier in the day, that day's limit rises by the profit amount.
What is the per-trade loss limit?
2% of your starting balance on every account. For example, $1,000 on a $50,000 account or $2,000 on a $100,000 account.
What is the daily loss limit on the CFD 3-Step?
5%, which is $5,000 on a $100,000 account. CFD 1-Step and 2-Step, and Future Based CFD 1-Step, are 4%.
